How it All Works
The Referral
Now that you’ve made the decision to obtain medical assistance in order to conceive, we know you’re anxious to get started. The first step is to have your family physician or gynaecologist complete a referral form and fax it to our office. Once we have received and processed your form, the date and time of your appointment will be sent to your doctor.
At First Steps Fertility, we aim to start your first treatment cycle within days of receiving your final test results. Guiding you through an effective and efficient treatment process is our top priority.
Initial Consultation
Your first scheduled appointment at our clinic will be for an initial consultation with a fertility doctor. Upon your arrival both you and your partner will be asked to fill out patient health history forms.
During the initial consultation the doctor will:
• Review the results of your diagnostic tests.
• Arrange for additional testing if necessary.
• Answer your questions and address your concerns.

Testing
Any additional tests recommended by the doctor will be scheduled at the earliest available time. For most patients the process of completing the required tests and receiving results takes approximately four to six weeks.
A Personalized Treatment Plan
Based on your evaluation, test results and treatment goals, the doctor will create a personalized treatment plan. At the follow up meeting you will have the opportunity to review the plan and give feedback to the doctor. This process ensures that the chosen course of treatment is right for you.
