Sony Sierra, MD, MSc, FRCSC

During her residency, she developed a keen interest in fertility, miscarriage and reproductive medicine. Her interest in this area led to her training in Gynecologic Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of British Columbia, a fellowship program accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. She currently practices in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, as well as general Gynecology.
Dr. Sierra has a career interest in recurrent miscarriage and completed a research fellowship in this area at the University of Chicago, Illinois. She has published several peer-reviewed papers in this field and presented abstracts at a number of national and international meetings. Her research has been recognized by two training awards: the first given by the Canadian Fertility Andrology Society, and the second, a President's Presenter Award, awarded by the Society for Gynecologic Investigation.
Dr. Sierra holds an appointment as an Assistant Professor, Clinician Scientist in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Toronto. She continues to pursue her research interests in infertility, pregnancy loss and implantation failure, and is currently enrolling patients in a study of endometrial (uterine markers) for recurrent miscarriage and recurrent implantation failure after in vitro fertilization. She is also working collaboratively with physicians in the United States and the United Kingdom to further our knowledge in this important clinical area.
Dr. Sierra is active at the national level in her specialty, holding positions on the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Committee of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada, and the Continuous Professional Development Committee of the Canadian Fertility Andrology Society.
She is also a member of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Toronto, the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, and the European Society of Human Reproduction and Endocrinology.
Dr. Sierra welcomes new patients with reproductive endocrinology, surgical, fertility or recurrent pregnancy loss concerns. She has language capabilities in English, Punjabi and Hindi.
